Advanced Scuba Diver Course...Course Description...Let the adventure continue! This course is designed to expand your diving knowledge and experiences while under the supervision of an instructor. Upon successful completion of the course, you are certified to conduct dives in conditions similiar to those you were trained in. This course is appropriate for divers who:
Who Can Take the Course...This course is open to anyone age 18 and older. (NOT JUST Penn State students and faculty!) You must be a certified scuba diver with a certification card from a recognized scuba certifying agency. The nature of scuba diving requires those who participate to be good swimmers. A general ability to swim and good health are required. How Much Does the Course Cost...The cost of the course is $125.00 (Course costs are subject to change without notice.) The cost of the course includes your gear rental, all instructor, and certification fees. You must cover your entrance and camping fees at the quarries (approximately $50).
Participation and payment for this course Refunds:There is a $20 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit required to sign up for the course. The remaining cost of the course can be refunded if you do not attend. Once you start the course, no refund will be issued. Where, When, and How Long is the Course...The course is run during the first summer session and the fall semester. The course takes one weekend to complete. We leave early Saturday morning for Willow Springs Park to do four dives (including a night dive) and camp overnight. Sunday morning we head to Bainbridge Scuba Center to do two deep dives. Additionally a classroom session may need to be scheduled after the dives to take the written exam. This session will be held in the Natatorium located on campus at the corner of Bigler and Curtin roads in room 201. When is the next course being offered:
What Will I Be Learning...The entire course is taught in the open water environment and consists of doing six dives in varying environments while doing various skills. The dives are selected from the list below depending on locations and conditions. Required Dives:
