Course Description...

This course familiarizes you with the operation and maintenance of your dive equipment. The more you know about how your gear works, the more comfortable you are with it, the more performance you get from it and the better you can care for it.

Who Can Take the Course...

This course is open to anyone age 18 and older. (NOT JUST Penn State students and faculty!)

You must be a certified scuba diver with a certification card from a recognized scuba certifying agency.

How Much Does the Course Cost...

The cost of the course is $85.00 (Course costs are subject to change without notice.)

The cost of the course includes all equipment, instructor, and certification fees.

The cost of the course can be refunded if you do not attend. Once you start the course, no refund will be issued.

Where, When, and How Long is the Course...

This course is run occationally throughout the year as interest warrants. The course is run on a weeknight or weekend depending on the availablity of an instructor and takes about three hours to complete. This is a PADI course offered by one of the local dive shops in conjunction with the club.

What Will I Be Learning...

You will learn the basic operation and maintenance of your dive equipment. Some of the topics covered include:

Reviews the theory, principles, and operation of dive equipment
Routine, recommended care and maintenance procedures, and equipment storage
Common problems with equipment and recommended professional maintenance procedures (may include a demonstration of repair procedures)
Simple suggestions for comfortable equipment configurations and an introduction to new gear (may include optional confined water dive to try new or unfamiliar equipment)
The PADI Equipment Specialist Course is not an equipment repair course, but it provides the foundation you'll want if you're interested in learning equipment repair

To Register for the Course:

Consult our list of upcoming courses. When you see this course listed, there will be an "enroll" link so you can sign up online. Payment instructions will be included with your online enrollment.

You CANNOT schedule our courses through eLion.

Confirmations:

Once we receive your check, someone will send you an e-mail confirmation to let you know we received the check and give you any additional information you may need about the course. You are not officially enrolled in the course until you receive this confirmation!

Refunds:
