Course Description...

How long as it been since your last dive? Do you still remember all those skills you learned in your open water course? If you are asking yourself these types of questions, then it's time for a Refresher Course!

The refresher course is designed to quickly reintroduce you to all that great material you learned in your open water course. It is an excellent way of refreshing your diving knowledge and skills if you have been away from the sport for a while.

Who Can Take the Course...

This course is open to anyone age 18 and older. (NOT JUST Penn State students and faculty!)

You must be a certified scuba diver with a certification card from a recognized scuba certifying agency.

The nature of scuba diving requires those who participate to be good swimmers. A general ability to swim and good health are required.

How Much Does the Course Cost...

The cost of the course is $30.00 (Course costs are subject to change without notice.)

The cost of the course includes the rental of a NAUI Scuba Diver Education System and all instructor, pool, and equipment fees.

All equipment is provided except for a swimsuit and towel. You are welcome to use your own equipment but the instructor reserves the right to not allow you to use it if the equipment is deemed inappropriate or unsafe for use in this course.

Refunds:

If you do not participate in the course, you may receive a full refund.

Where, When, and How Long is the Course...

This course is run occationally throughout the year as interest warrants. The course is normally run on a weeknight and consists of a three hour lecture and exam session followed by a two hour pool session.

Both lecture and pool session are held in the Natatorium located on campus at the corner of Bigler and Curtain roads. The lecture is held in room 201 and the pool sessions is done in the diving well.

What Will I Be Learning...

You will be given an opportunity to review the material taught in the Scuba Diver course using the NAUI Scuba Diver Education System that includes a textbook, workbook, video, and audio tapes. During the lecture session, the instructor will answer any questions you may have along with reviewing key scuba concepts.

During the pool session, you will be given an opportunity to practice all of the basic scuba skills including air sharing, mask clearing, and equipment doffing and donning.
