About Us...

Who are the Nittany Divers?

We are a student-run club at Penn State University's University Park campus. Our membership consists of students, faculty, and staff. Everyone shares a common interest in scuba diving, snorkeling, or the undersea world in general. We meet twice a month to discuss upcoming trips, new diving practices, refresh safety skills and share personal experiences.

We offer the opportunity to participate in an exciting sport within an environment of safety and fun. Dive trips are planned to local quarries, lakes, and rivers, in addition to more inviting destinations such as Lake Erie and North Carolina. We also engage in many other fun and exciting social events throughout the year.

Benefits of being a Nittany Diver...

  • Club-sponsored trips at group rates.
  • Social activities including theme parties and the traditional Lobster Tailgate on Homecoming weekend.
  • Bi-monthly meetings to keep you abreast of club activities, trips, and business.

Can I Learn to Scuba Dive?

Opportunities for non-divers to learn SCUBA are available through the University's KINES 45 course and the Adventure Recreation program.

Getting Involved

Nittany Divers is an active and fun scuba club that offers various programs and activities throughout the year so you can get involved. This is a club and that means that you will get out of it what you put into it. The only limits this club has are the ones placed on it by its members.

Ways to get involved

  • Attend a meeting and/or join the email list and find out what's going on.
  • Come to a social event and meet people. Nothing beats eating a lobster on Homecoming weekend at the annual Lobster Tailgate.
  • Become an officer. The club elects a president, vice-president, treasurer, and secretary every spring semester. Why not run and take a commanding lead of YOUR scuba club. It looks great on the resume.

How Do I Find Out What's Going On?

  • For general club information email the secretary.
  • Join our email list which is used to announce events and discuss diving. To join, subscribe online.
  • Attend a club meeting! Check our home page for the date, time, and location of the next meeting.

Joining the Club

Becoming a member of the club is a very simple three step process as outlined below:
